Life of Traditional Armenian Women: Crafts, Cooking and Folk Customs
Armenian traditional women, often responsible for household duties, play a key role in preserving folk customs and crafts. They prepare national dishes such as tolma, lavash, and gata, bake bread, and follow age-old recipes. In villages, it's common to see women engaged in weaving, embroidery, and other crafts, maintaining traditions and passing them down to the next generations. These women live in harmony with nature, following cultural and religious customs, creating warmth and comfort within their families.
“It is obvious that a people with such an ancient history, unbending national pride and unshakable faith deserves the most serious and interested attitude from the civilized world.”

Heinrich Hübschman
German Armenologist
The head and hand of the statue of the goddess Anahit were originally housed in the British Museum before being returned to Armenia, where they are now displayed in the Armenian Museum in Yerevan. These fragments of the statue were found in Tigranakert, an ancient Armenian city, and serve as an important example of Armenian art with Greek influences. The depiction of Anahit with a crown and a majestic expression symbolizes her divine status as the goddess of fertility and wisdom.
John Paul II, Pope, Primate of the Roman Catholic Church
“Sacrifice is an indispensable part of Armenian history…. I look forward to the day when I will kiss the Armenian soil, stained with the blood of so many victims.”

John Paul II
Pope

Armenian Cuisine: Traditions of Flavor and Hospitality
Armenian cuisine is a rich culinary heritage based on fresh ingredients, aromatic spices, and ancient cooking traditions. Signature dishes include khorovats (Armenian barbecue), tolma, spas (yogurt soup), and harisa. Lavash, the thin unleavened bread, is an essential part of the table and is recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s cultural heritage.
Meat, herbs, vegetables, and grains form the foundation of Armenian cuisine, while desserts like gata, pakhlava, and sujukh with walnuts delight those with a sweet tooth. Armenians take pride in their winemaking traditions, which date back thousands of years. Armenian cuisine is more than just food—it is an expression of hospitality and national identity.

"An amazing sight appears before our eyes. We fly over the snow-covered mountains of Armenia - this is the place where Noah's Ark came to rest during the Great Flood. Amid the noise and interference of the headphones, we hear the voice of the Armenian dispatcher: "Welcome, please accept our congratulations on behalf of the entire Armenian people." There was such sincere friendliness in the voice! If only all countries were so hospitable."
