Ararat region

This beautiful little canyon is just an hour away from Yerevan, and yet many people, including locals, have never heard of it. Be among the first to discover Angels’ Canyon!
Khor Virap is the most famous pilgrimage site in Armenia, as it is directly connected with the adoption of Christianity. As a state religion, Christianity in Armenia was adopted in 301 due to endeavors of Saint Gregory The Illuminator.
Azat Reservoir (1050 m above sea level) is located in Ararat province. It was put into operation in the year of 1976 with the aim of being used for irrigation of the Ararat Valley. The area makes 2.85 sq. km, while the total volume is 70 million cubic m.
Tap Fortress also known as Gevorg Marzpetuni Castle is located 6 km North-West of Urtsadzor village of Ararat Province, Armenia. Was built in the 10-13th century. The church of the monastery-fortress founded in the 13th century, is a vaulted hall, built of well treated stones of white felsite.
The ruins of the capital Dvin of ancient Armenia: king Khosrov III Kotak founded the city of Dvin in 336 and moved the royal palace from Artashat here
"Tushpa Wine Cellar is a traditional Armenian winery, both family-owned and managed. The winery is named for the historic area of Tushpa, now known as Van, from where our ancestors originated.

Aragatsotn region

The principal architectural features of medieval fortress-building have found their reflection in this fortress.
13th century Vachutian dukes built Saghmosavank monastery. The main church is adjacent to the scriptorium, where many manuscripts have been produced during centuries.
Hovhannavank monastery bears the name of John the Baptist. The oldest church here is the one-naved basilica, built in the 5th century. In the 13th century, under the patronage of Vachutian dukes, new buildings were added.
Armenian Alphabet Monument is located in the village of Artashavan, at the east side bottom of Mount Aragats. It was erected in 2005 to the 1600th anniversary of creation of the Armenian alphabet by the design of the famous Armenian architect Jim Torosyan.
Kari Lake was formed from the ice of Aragats, it is fed with the snow of Aragats. Being surrounded by ice, the temperature of the lake is quite low throughout the year. Not far from Kari Lake is the Primary Cosmic Ray Research Station.

Aragats is a lonely extinct volcano, the highest mountain of nowadays Armenia. Mount Aragats is a majestic natural monument with four peaks – Northern – 4090.1 meters, Western – 3995.3 m, Eastern – 3908.2 meters, Southern – 3887.8 meters. During our hike we will climb the Southern peak.
Dashtadem fortress is located in a homonymous village near Talin town. It appears to be one of those medieval fortresses of Aragatsotn province, that were built for protecting Ararat Plain from attacks. The base of the fortress was founded during Urartian period.

The church complex Tegher is situated on the southern slope of Mount Aragats. It consists of a church and an anteroom and was built in the 13th century under the patronage of Vache Vachutian's wife – Mamakhatun.
St. George church or Mughni was founded in the 13th century but the details of the construction haven’t been investigated to the full yet. According to historian Zakaria Sarkavag, the monastery was built by the members of Hovhannavank. The remains of St George have been moved to Mughni at the end of the 13th century.
Voskevaz Winery creates unique high-quality wines, which combine winemaking traditions and innovations. Voskevaz winery is located in Aragatsotn region of Armenia in the village of the same name Voskevaz, which in Armenian means "golden bunch".

Armavir region

The center of Armenian Apostolic church – St. Echmiadzin is located 20 km far from Yerevan. The Cathedral of Echmiadzin was founded at the beginning of the fourth century and is one of the oldest churches in the world.
St. Hripsime Church is one of the famous ecclesiastical buildings in the city of Echmiadzin. This is the developed and perfect example of cross-cupola churches in Armenia.
Saint Gayane Church is located in the southern outskirts of the city of Vagharshapat (Echmiadzin) in the Armavir region of Armenia, southeast of the Cathedral. According to the sources, it was built in 630. by the Catholicos of Ezr Nigets, on the site of the chapel-chapel.
St. Shoghakat is a small church, but a beautiful architectural monument. It is the newest building of the entire church complex in Echmiadzin. The church was built in 1694 by Prince Agamal Shorotetsi, on the western side of the St. Hripsime church.
One of the most popular places to visit close to Yerevan is the wondrous and picturesque Zvartnots Cathedral.
This memorial sculptural complex is built in the sunny Ararat valley. By allegories, it represents the Armenian-Turkish battle in 1918 and glorifies the brilliant victory of Armenian people.
The Yazidi Temple in Aknalich, known as Quba Mêrê Dîwanê, is the world's largest Yazidi temple and serves as a central hub for the Yazidi community. The world’s largest Yazidi temple-ziarat.
The ancient castle-resident of Metsamor is one of the world cultural unique monuments. It is 35km South–West from Yerevan, on the bank of Metsamor river. Excavations have been frequently conducted in Metsamor since 1965.

Kotayk region

Garni pagan temple (1st century), dedicated to the God of Sun Mihr.
Get amazed by the magnificence of the 13th century Geghard monastery complex, partially carved in the rock and included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
Symphony of Stones. It is natural monument is the result of the collapse of the volcanic rocks.
In the 10th century the ancient fortress on cliffs was rebuilt by Pahlavuni princes and transformed into a powerful fortress of Medieval Armenia.
Azhdahak is a volcano in Armenia, the highest point of Gegham mountains. It has an elevation of 3,597 m above sea.
Kecharis monastery is in the north-western part of Tsaghkadzor. It was built in 11-13th centuries.
Underground museum in the village of Arindj, Kotay region of Armenia, architectural monument of Ar-bryuta.

Gegharkunik region

Sevanavank Monastery is located in the Gegharkunik region, on the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan. It was founded in 305, and two of its churches were built in 874.

Mount Armaghan is an extinct volcano (2829 m). It is a natural monument of Armenia, in Gegharkunik Region. But there is very little information about it. Maybe it is for the best. The church is quite recent. It is located at the very top of Mount Armaghan, one of the most beautiful peaks in Armenia.
Vanevank Monastery was founded by the Bagratun Kingdom in the 10th century, but was abandoned in the 16th century as a result of the devastation of the nearby village due to raids by Turkic tribes.
Hayravank Monastery is located in a picturesque area on a hill near Lake Sevan. It offers stunning views of the lake and its surroundings. The monastery complex includes a church, a chapel and a small narthex. Various buildings of the complex were erected at different times, from the 9th to the 12th centuries.

Syunik region

Among the architectural pillars of Zangezour, the monastery of Tatev does not have its "rivals". It used to be the wealthiest medieval monastery in Armenia. Besides being a religious center,
Tatev Cable Car is the longest pendulum-type passenger cable car in the world, the length of the cable car is almost 6 km. It is also the longest non-stop three-wire cable car in the world, which is confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records.
Shaki Waterfall is in the southern part of Armenia, close to Sisian. The fall, being located in one of the coziest and nicest corners of Syunik, gloriously opens its striking beauty to all admirers.
Vahanavank Monastery complex is located about 5 km south-west from Kapan, in Syunik province. Vahan, Prince Dzagik’s son, founded the monastery in 10th century. The monastery was called Vahanavank in his honor.
The Medieval Goris Cave Dwellings are an extraordinary testament to the ingenuity and resilience of ancient Armenian civilization. Carved into the rugged cliffs, these dwellings date back hundreds of years and reflect a unique architectural style that harmonizes with the natural landscape.
The scientific expeditions proved Karahunj (Zorats Karer) to be one of the oldest observatories in the world. It is said to be about 7500 years old. Some of the precisingly arranged huge stones have holes bored into them, which were used for astrological observations.
“Stone Forest” is an unusual natural phenomenon, apparently of volcanic origin. This territory, located on the mountain slopes, is covered with many small narrow peaked rocks, stone pillars and boulders of the most unusual and bizarre forms.
Lets visit to Halidzor Fortress and delivering its heroic lines dating to the 18th century is what would make visitors pleased and satisfied.
The Ughtasar Petroglyphs are rock-carvings found on Mount Ughtasar "Camel Mountain", near the town of Sisian in Armenia's southern province of Syunik. Over 2,000 decorated rock fragments extend to the foot of the mountain. These petroglyphs, some believed to date back to the Paleolithic (12,000 BCE), are carved onto dark brownish-black volcanic stones left behind by an extinct volcano.
“Shikahogh” State Reserve is located in Syunik province, on the north-eastern slope of Khustup mountain and in the upper ponds of Shikahogh and Tsav Rivers at altitudes of 700-2800m.

Shirak Region

The Black Fortress, or Sev-Berd, is a fortress from the times of the Russian Empire, located in the city of Gyumri, Armenia. Currently it is one of the main historical and architectural values.

The Marmashen Monastery complex is situated on the left bank of the Akhuryan River, which for centuries has been one of the most important cultural and spiritual centers of Shirak province.
The family cafe Ponchik-Monchik embodies the simple joys of life, being a corner of warmth and comfort in the heart of Gyumri.
It is impossible to go to Gyumri and not walk along Varpetats Street. This street was named after the masters because Hovhannes Shiraz, Avetik Isahakyan, and Mher Mkrtchyan were born on this street.

Tavush region

Dilijan is a town with mild climate and fresh air to the northeast of Yerevan. It is famous for its lovely surroundings, called the "Armenian Switzerland" by the locals, due to the densely forested valleys and mountains with alpine meadows surrounding them.
Monastic complex of the 11 – 13th centuries, Haghartsin. It is the canyon's jewel, one of the most mysterious places in Armenia, buried in the verdure of mountain woods.
The medieval monastery complex Goshavank is another remarkable example of medieval temple architecture in Armenia.
Parz Lake is a mountain pond surrounded by small forests. It is 300 meters long and 100 meters wide. You can walk around the lake and its area and also enjoy the entertainment offered.
This small, picturesque lake, located in the heart of Dilijan National Park, is surrounded with dense forests. The length makes 100 m, width – 80 m with an approximate depth of 8 m.
Makaravank Monastery is an Armenian monastery of the 10th-13th centuries, 6 km west of the village of Achajur, in the Tavush region of Armenia. The monastery is well preserved and is an active center for believers.

Lastiver Caves are located 130 km away from Yerevan, in Tavush region. Tavush region, due to the abundance of green forests and mountainous, alpine microclimate, is associated with Switzerland.
Matosavank is a small monastery located in the mountain forest of Dilijan National Park, 3.5 km northwest of the town of Dilijan in the Tavush region of Armenia.
Kirants Monastery is located 12 km west of the village of Kirants in Tavush region, on the left bank of the tributary of the same name. With its brick construction, it is considered one of the unique examples of Armenian church architecture.

Lori region

The monastery was founded by Queen Khosrovanuysh, wife of the Bagratid king Ashot III, probably in 976.
The 10th-century monastic complex of Sanahin is located in the village of the same name just above the city of Alaverdi. It is believed that the site was a center of worship from as early as the 4th century.
The Akhtala Fortress is situated in Lori district. It is constructed on a plateau resembling a peninsula, surrounded with deep gorges from three sides. In the 10th century the masons could exactly derive benefit from the nature in order to make the fortress more fortified.
The Odzun Monastery, preserved in the village of the same name, was built in the 6th-7th centuries. The architectural concept, the grandeur of the surfaces and volumes of the Odzun Church place it among the best basilica monuments.
Medieval city-fortress Lori (Lori berd) was founded in the 11th century. It is located at the intersection of Lori's picturesque gorges, and the two old bridges are connecting it with the outside world.
Arevatsag Gorge - Tsitsqar, this place has gained wide popularity in society due to its beautiful views. The locals call the rock Tsitsqar. It is located in the Dzoraget Canyon of the Lori region of Armenia, next to the Dzoraget river.
Zarni-Parni is a cave castle complex in Lori region. It is located in a forest canyon with a magnificent view of the Kayan fortress, which is close to the village of Haghpat, famous for its monastery.
The wonderful nature of Lori region is completed by St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Church. The church, constructed in neo-Russian style for orthodox Russians, was built in 1848 in Nikolaevka village (nowadays Amrakits), which was established by Ukrainian cossacks.
The fantasy of the architects and masons has reached outstanding achievements when building Kobayr monastery. It was built in the 13th century on a picturesque and inaccessible rock. The whole monastery seems to be integrated into the rocks.
This monastic complex, dedicated to the Armenian Catholicos St. Grigor, dates back to 10-13 centuries. The monastery has two churches, a bell-tower, chapel and Mamikonyan’s family cemetery. Due to the white tint of the stone, the monastery was also called White.
Ardvi village is famous for St. Hovhannes monastery, which is also called St. Hovhan Odzneci or Srbanes monastery. Saint Hovhannes was a theologian, outstanding thinker, reformer, religious and public figure.
Connecting the two banks of the Debed river in the town of Alaverdi, the Sanahin bridge is a remarkable example of medieval Armenian engineering. It was built in the 12th century by the sister of Princes Ivaneh and Zakareh Zakarians, Queen Vaneni, in memory of her late husband.
Hnevank Monastery is located in Lori province, on the right bank of the Dzoraget River. The exact date of construction of the church is not known. It is believed that the monastery was constructed in the 12th century.

The Aramyants castle, one of the jewels of Swiss architecture, is situated in the town of Akhtala in Lori region. It is distinguished for its magnificent appearance and interesting history of 120 years.

Vayots dzor region

Noravank Monastery is located in Vayots Dzor province, 3 km northeast of Amaghu village. The name of the monastery is translated as “new monastery”. Noravank was built in the 13-14th centuries
"Areni-1 (also known as Birds’ Cave) is a three-chambered karstic cave located on the left-hand side of the Arpa River basin, within the eastern portion of the modern village of Areni in the Vayots Dzor Region of Armenia.
The long caravans with loaded camels were passing this way. Perceiving the necessity of having a place to stop after long and tiring journeys, the Armenian duke Chesar Orbelian in 1332 ordered building a caravansary on this long serpentine road of Selim pass.
Mageli Cave is considered one of the largest caves in Armenia. The cave is located in Upi Dzor, Vayots Dzor region, on the second kilometer of the road leading to Noravank Dzor. It is considered a karst cave. There are many stalactites and stalagmites here.
The monastic complex, built in the Middle Ages, has an interesting name. According to the popular legend, the name of this unique monastery came from the combination of “ari” (come) and “tes” (see). The monastery consists of three partially ruined churches and a narthex.

The 68 m high Jermuk waterfall is located in the resort town of Jermuk, Vayots Dzor province.
Gndevank Monastery
Gndevank Monastery is located in Vayots Dzor region on the bank of Arpa river, close to Gndevaz village. The construction of the monastery started in the beginning of the 10th century.
