Armenia’s Joyful Water Festival
Get ready for Vardavar 2025 on July 27, Armenia’s most exciting water-splashing festival! Originally a pagan celebration of Astghik, the goddess of love and water, it later became part of the Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ. Despite its Christian adaptation, the tradition of throwing water remains unchanged.
On July 27, streets, parks, and Yerevan’s Republic Square will be filled with people armed with buckets and water balloons. Locals and tourists alike join in—no one stays dry!

Let’s change our location and move to a very famous Armenian village Areni, where the annual Areni Wine Festival will be held on October 4. With more than 13 years of activity, the Areni Wine Festival has become an important player in international tourism. Unlike the other Yerevan festivals, this one aims more to develop Areni village, promote visits to the village, and popularize it as the cradle of the winemaking industry.

  • Homemade Wine Zone—This is designed for the residents of the local and neighboring villages to present their homemade wines and dishes.

  • Music Zone– guests are granted the chance to enjoy high-quality music.
